Amitabh Bachchan has donated a jacket he wore in 1981 film Silsila to a charity.

The jacket is one of many personal items of clothing that Bachchan has parted with for the cause. He has given them to the Clothes Box Foundation, which provides clothes to the poor.

“Giving to the needy my personal clothes... supporting the Clothes Box initiative by these two gems from Delhi,” Bachchan tweeted on Friday night referring to the founders of the NGO, Naman Aluwalia and Saajan Arol.

With the hashtag ‘#BigBkaGift’, the screen icon wrote: “That jacket is the one I wore in Silsila! Given to the needy for coming cold weather,” he added.

The actor supports a number of initiatives, including ones to raise awareness about polio and tuberculosis.

On the big screen, the actor will next be seen in Wazir, directed by Bejoy Nambiar. The film, which is slated to hit the theatres in India on January 8, 2016, also stars Farhan Akhtar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Aditi Rao Hydari and John Abraham.
