Chinese behind Dh900m trade on UAE bourses in 2017

Number of Chinese investors at 817 by end of 2017, with more than 15 Chinese investment institutions active on local stock markets

Abu Dhabi: The number of Chinese investors active on UAE stock markets at the end of 2017 stood at 817, with turnover of Dh900 million.

According to official figures, more than 15 Chinese investment institutions are active on UAE markets.

Chinese investors made 4,543 buy and sell transactions on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) in 2017, trading 159.13 million shares worth Dh326 million.

“The market has a large and diversified investor base of more than 840,000 investors representing more than 200 countries,” said Hassan Al Serkal, DFM chief operating officer and head of the operations division.

“As for registered Chinese investors, there are 566 investors with 76.2 million shares of the listed companies,” Al Serkal added.
