Dubai: This coming Friday and the following weekend will be the busiest days to fly out of Dubai and those who are scheduled to travel are advised to take precaution to avoid potential delays.
The Dubai International Airport is preparing to facilitate some 1.1 million people during this year’s summer travel rush, as holidaymakers jet off for their annual or long breaks.
One of the world’s largest carriers, Emirates, is bracing to accommodate the biggest surge in weekend travellers on Friday, June 29. The succeeding weekend, July 5, will also be another busy period for the airline.
Overall, there will be a total of 220,000 people passing through Emirates Terminal 3 alone during the upcoming two weekends.

With the check-in and immigration counters expected to be crowded during the two weekends, travellers are urged to be at the airport earlier than usual and ensure that the bags they take into the cabins won’t exceed seven kilos if they’re travelling on economy or 14 kilos if they have business or first class tickets.
“Staff will be checking the weight of carry-on bags at various touch points before passengers board their flights,” Emirates said.
The Dubai Airports had earlier said that it is also preparing to facilitate more than 1.1 million travellers during the busy days. “It is predicted that June 28 is going to be the first of our busy days during the summer holiday,” said Eugene Barry, executive vice president, commercial, Dubai Airports.
“The weekend of July 5-8 is anticipated to be a busier time as the majority of local schools are breaking up for the summer. We expect during those few days to welcome over 1.1 million tarvellers.”
Emirates flyers have the option to arrive at the terminal and check into their flights six hours before departure or check in online two days before travelling.
The airline has also set up check-in facilities near the Emirates car park area, where passengers can check in and drop off their bags from 24 hours to six hours prior to their flight.
