Abu Dhabi:The UAE is eying being the best country in the world by 2021 in its performance and achievements, Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of Ministry of Finance, told Gulf News on Tuesday.
“We will be celebrating our Golden Jubilee in 2021. Therefore, we are working hard from now on to be the best country in the world in our achievements,” Al Khouri added.
The vision emanates from key main pillars based on unity in ambition and responsibility, in destiny, in knowledge with its competitive economy driven by knowledgeable and innovative nationals and in prosperity by nurturing and sustaining the environment for a quality living.
He said that in 2013, the ministry will suspend all manual interactions with clients and they will only be online.
The drive is based on a government vision that charts the next stage of the UAE journey, he pointed out.
“We will be achieving this through planning, confidence and determination as well as proactively responding to challenges,” explained Al Khouri.
In reply to a question on the GCC union, Al Khouri explained that there are six main items still under discussion by GCC officials.
“Amongst the main issues still under probation are the commodity movements, protectorate policies of some goods, relationship between agencies working in the GCC, Free Trade Agreements, customs union,” he stressed.
Speaking on the launch of the ministry’s Strategy Preparation Project for years 2014-2016 (the third phase of its strategy) as per the requirements of the UAE cabinet, the undersecretary highlighted the key steps required to commence preparing the Ministry’s strategy for the years 2014 – 2016.
The ceremony also showcased the general framework of the strategy, the suggested timeline for implementation and its planning phases, where a preliminary draft of the strategy will be submitted to the Cabinet.
The launching ceremony was attended by ministry of finance officials as well as a number of officials from federal and local government bodies and strategic partners.
