Dubai: Dubai developer Nakheel has signed a management agreement with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide to operate a St Regis hotel on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, the two companies said in a joint statement on Thursday.

The St Regis Dubai-The Palm will be a part of Palm Tower, Nakheel’s 52-storey luxury mixed-use development in Palm Jumeirah. It is scheduled to open in 2018, the companies stated.

The development will further consolidate Starwood’s strong growth momentum in Dubai, according to Neil George, senior vice president, Acquisitions & Development at Starwood. He said the company continues to see a strong demand for high-end hotel accommodations in the emirate. “The continued growth of the St Regis brand in the UAE underpins our commitment to Starwood’s luxury portfolio in this dynamic market,” he stated.

The St Regis Dubai-The Palm will feature 289 guest rooms, including 23 suites, which will occupy the first 18 floors of The Palm Tower, while the upper floors will comprise 504 luxury apartments.

The hotel will also feature two swimming pools, including an infinity pool that is said to be one of the world’s highest.

Starwood plans to expand the St Regis brand in the Middle East, with the St Regis Amman in 2016 and the St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club set to open in 2018.

Nakheel Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah, added: “Our partnership with Starwood to open a St. Regis on the Palm reinforces what the island is all about: world-class facilities that set new standards for residents and tourists.”
