Dubai: Lama Desert Tours and Cruises will set up about 50 electronic tour-booking kiosks at various key locations this year as it becomes the first UAE travel company to install these machines.

The machines can be used to book desert safari tours, dinner cruises and city tours organised by the company.

Dubai will be the first city to have such machines and 10 kiosks will be launched in about two weeks, said Kulwant Singh, managing partner.

"It is a new technology and we first want to see public response. There will be no less than 50 machines by the end of this year," he said.

Hotels and shopping malls are among the sites being considered for having the kiosks.

Lama handled 50,000 foreign tourists last year and recorded 60,000 desert safari bookings, 40,000 cruises and 15,000 city tours, according to Singh.
