European Investment Bank pledges 300m euros to help financing
Amman : (Zawya Dow Jones) Syria's State Planning Commission, or SPC, will seek to raise about 600 million euros (Dh3.24 billion) to bridge the remaining financing gap for the Damascus Metro project when given government authorisation, according to Taysir Raddawi, SPC's chairman.
The European Investment Bank has expressed readiness to contribute about 300 million euros to help finance the project and the French government has pledged 250 million. Raddawi has discussed finance plans with Jean-Noel Chapulut, an expert for France's directorate-general of treasury and economic policy, who said his country will provide financial support to the project.
