London: Statistics, from moneysupermarket.com Vouchers, show a staggering 1,692 coupons are redeemed every minute in the country — up 25 per cent from last year.

On average, British people scour the internet six times a week looking for the latest discounts and deals. And it is thought each adult in the UK now hands over at least three discount vouchers every eight weeks.

The average saving for each has been calculated at almost £55 (Dh310) every month but one in seven coupon users have revealed they can save double that in the same time.

The total money saved has been put at an £2.5 billion every month.

Sian Harrison of money-supermarket.com, said: "Since our launch a year ago, discount-hungry consumers have downloaded over one million offers from the site and our love affair with vouchers shows no sign of abating.

"With hundreds of new offers going live every week, canny consumers are set to reap record savings."

Restaurant vouchers were revealed as the most popular type of vouchers for men, followed by DVD and supermarket.

For women, clothes and restaurant vouchers came out top, followed by sup-ermarket. Research also named Londoners as the nation's biggest voucher fans, redeeming one every fortnight.
