Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, inaugurated Monday the Emirates Aluminium Company Limited (Emal) smelter development project in the Al Taweelah area of Abu Dhabi.
The $5.7 billion protect, a joint-venture between Dubai Aluminium and Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala, is one of the largest industrial projects in the UAE, outside of oil and gas.
When completed, the smelter will have a capacity of 750,000 metric tonnes.
