Parcel scams surge: Aramex uses AI to teach customers how to spot fake messages

Dubai: Parcel scams are getting smarter, but Aramex is fighting back. The Dubai-based logistics giant has launched a first-of-its-kind AI-generated awareness campaign aimed at helping customers spot fake messages, emails, and phishing attempts.

The video, now live on Aramex’s social media, uses deliberately fake branding alongside real materials to teach customers how to tell the difference between legitimate updates and scam attempts. It comes just as fraud cases spike across the UAE, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia—especially in the lead-up to busy shopping seasons.

Customers in the region are frequently targeted by fraudsters posing as delivery companies, urging them to click unverified links or pay fake charges. Aramex’s campaign comes in response to this growing threat, using AI to make security education more relatable and shareable.

“Scammers are using fake tools, so we’re using AI to beat them at their own game,” said Mike Rich, Aramex Group CMO. “This goes beyond Aramex—it’s relevant to all UAE residents who shop online.”

How to stay safe, according to Aramex:

  • Verify: Only trust messages from official channels (look for @aramex.com).

  • Avoid paying via links: Use the Aramex app or verified website.

  • Be cautious on social media: Real campaigns are always traceable.

Since the campaign’s launch, Aramex has seen a 28% jump in app downloads, where secure tracking and payments are available. The video is part of a larger digital rollout throughout 2025.
