Huawei Pura 80 series: UAE pre-order dates, prices, and new flagship camera unveiled

Dubai: Huawei has officially launched its highly anticipated Pura 80 Series in the UAE, with pre-orders kicking off on July 23, Gulf News can reveal.

Starting from Dh3,999, consumers can now secure their device and benefit from a range of valuable add-ons, including Huawei Care+ and a Huawei Watch GT 5, with gifts collectively valued at Dh 1,948.

The new Pura 80 Series was unveiled at a special event in Dubai, where the company said the new device is set to redefine smartphone photography with its advanced imaging capabilities and distinctive design.

The flagship Huawei Pura 80 Ultra leads the charge, boasting a 1-inch Ultra Large Sensor for its main camera and a variable aperture range of F1.6-F4.0, ensuring exceptional low-light performance.

However, the most significant innovation lies in the Pura 80 Ultra's Switchable Dual Telephoto camera. This system features a shared sensor for both 3.7x medium telephoto and 9.4x super telephoto lenses, allowing for a larger sensor area compared to traditional dual-sensor setups. This translates into a monumental leap in telephoto image quality, particularly in challenging low-light conditions. Huawei highlights that this telephoto system now rivals the performance of standard main cameras on other flagship devices, promising surprisingly good long-distance shots.

Beyond its telephoto prowess, the Pura 80 Ultra also enhances its main camera with a large 1-inch sensor, achieving an industry-leading dynamic range of 16 EV, which surpasses even some professional cinema cameras for ultra-high dynamic video capabilities.

In terms of aesthetics, the Pura 80 Series continues Huawei's commitment to fashion-forward design. The Pura 80 Ultra showcases a striking “forward symbol” camera module with a sunburst pattern, golden trims, and XMAGE branding, exuding a blend of class and flashiness.

The Pro versions feature pure monochrome glazes and a curved, silk-textured frame, while the standard Pura 80 offers an effortless style with a frosted glass back and a flat-edged screen.

Durability has also seen a significant upgrade. The HUAWEI Pura 80 and Pura 80 Pro incorporate Kunlun Glass 2nd Generation, enhancing drop resistance by 20 times.
