Abu Dhabi: Residents living on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi island will now be able to access a wide variety of retail, leisure and entertainment facilities at the capital's latest addition, Dalma Mall, which is set for a soft opening on October 10, the mall's management said.

"The areas beyond Abu Dhabi island, such as the Al Raha, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed City and Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed City, are all under-serviced even though they are currently the fastest growing residential areas in the capital at the moment," Mark Adams, General Manager of Dalma Mall, said.

Already, over 62 per cent of the mall's retail space has been leased out and a further 35 per cent is under negotiation. At full capacity, the mall will contain over 480 stores covering 147,000 square metres of retail space.

"One of the retailers we are currently negotiating with is a speciality restaurant from Australia that has chosen Dalma Mall as the first location for its UAE branch.

The reason they chose us was because of their need for a large food and beverage dedicated space as well as the high level of foot traffic that we are expecting," Adams said.

"Because of the convenience of our location, opposite Mohammad Bin Zayed City, we hope to welcome at least 40,000 visitors during weekdays and 60,000 visitors during weekends once the mall has officially opened," he added.

Dalma Mall, which has a built-up area of 250,000 square metres, will also feature a host of attractions and entertainment facilities including a 14-screen cinema, Fun City and speciality retail stores, in addition to a wide range of restaurants and cafes offering the finest culinary treats from around the world.
