RAK delegation in South Africa to explore business opportunities

Cape Town: Seeking to strengthen trade relations between Africa and the UAE, the CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ), Oussama Al Omari, led a trade delegation to meet with top officials and businessmen in South Africa.

Esmail Obaid Al Ali, UAE Ambassador to South Africa, met and welcomed Al Omari and the delegation to the country, and updated them on the status of Arab businessmen and the business climate in the continent. He also provided a venue for the delegation to network and meet with Arabian businessmen and colleagues in the region.

During the visit, Al Omari and the rest of the team met with a number of high profile South African officials to establish connections and expand their extensive business network. They were warmly received, with representatives from both the private and government sectors welcoming the opportunity to explore avenues of economic growth.

With Jerry Vilakazi, CEO of Business Unity South Africa (Busa), and Catherine Grant, Busa Trade Policy Director, the delegation sat down and explored the prospects for business collaboration between RAK FTZ's and Busa's extensive networks. Busa, the first truly unified organisation for business in South Africa, supports and represents South African businesses and encourages them to play constructive roles within the country's economic growth and development.

"We are happy to support Busa's mission to help South African companies reach their full potential both locally and internationally. I believe that, with each other's input, we will be able to design a blueprint that will lead to success on both sides," Al Omari said.
