Damascus: EMAAR-IGO, a venture between Syria and IGO, is making rapid progress on the $500 million (about Dh1.8 billion) Eighth Gate, the pioneering master-planned community that will create a commercial nerve-centre near Damascus.
A commercial community that will eventually feature the Damascus Stock Exchange Building, Eighth Gate is now taking shape with several hundred workers employed on site.
ACC and Saudi Bin Ladin Group are leading the construction works. Sarhad Haffar, general manager, EMAAR Syria, said: "EMAAR recently launched the commercial centre Eighth Gate to strong investor response not only in Syria but also in several Gulf countries.
"We are now undertaking the construction work (…) at an accelerated pace to hand over the project and create a dynamic commercial environment near Damascus".
