Dodsal, a Dubai-based engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) multinational has been awarded a Dh365 million ($100 million) contract by Nakheel to carry out the procurement and construction of residential buildings for Gardens of Discovery Mesoamerican Gardens package.

The Mesoamerican project for Nakheel comprises 26 multi-storey residential buildings with a total built-up area of 1.86 million square feet.

The project is located behind the Gardens between the 5th and 6th Interchanges on Shaikh Zayed Road.

The project is to be completed in three phases within 18 months.

This contract brings Dodsal's order book to more than Dh3.67 billion with additional orders of over Dh3 billion expected by third quarter of 2006.

In the last 50 years, Dodsal has transformed into a diversified transglobal multinational with a range of activities in the energy, metallurgical, infrastructure and transportation sectors.

The company in the late 1960s built on an EPC basis a religious study centre in Muscat, Oman.

In the early 1970s, Dodsal built numerous residential villas in Abu Dhabi.

In the late 1990s Dodsal re-entered the building sector and built the Inter-Continental Beach Resort with the associated infrastructure along with a golf course in Goa, India.

Recently, Dodsal completed a residential complex comprising 52 buildings for Nuclear Power Corporation of India in 18 months.
