Dubai : With its infrastructure work done, Dubai Lifestyle City (DLC) is set to be complete by the end of 2011 or first quarter of 2012.

DLC is a comprehensive lifestyle project conceptualised and executed by ETA Star Group.

The project's network infrastructure work has been completed.

This includes completion of the road networks, telecommunication, surface water drainage, sewage network, irrigation networks, fire-fighting system, street lighting and portable water network.

The project was officially inaugurated in 2006.

Haute living

"The project seeks to promote a unique concept of haute living that encompasses nearly everything in terms of luxuries, digital facilities, sports training and recreational opportunities, word-class hotels, fashion, art, theatre and shopping," Raza Seddiqi, executive director, DLC, said.

DLC will have 68 Tuscan-themed villas and 120 villettes or apartments, all conceived by Beverley Hills designer Tony Ashai.

So far, 60 per cent of the property has been sold. Saleh Constructions has already started construction of the units.

DLC has entered into partnerships with JW Marriott, IMG Academies, Microsoft and Cisco.

"Dubai Lifestyle City offers luxury within a gated community. Its alliance with a respected and renowned world-class brand such as the JW Marriott Hotel validates its positioning as a luxury development," Mohammad Al Habbai, Senior Vice President at Dubailand, said.

JW Marriott is developing the living component of DLC as the first JW Marriott branded residential property worldwide.

Besides, JW Marriott will run three separate, yet integrated lodging facilities to fulfill all the requirements of the visitors to the city.

The 170-room JW Marriott Hotel, the 152-room Courtyard by Marriott, and the 46-unit Marriott Executive Apartments, will be available to the visitors to DLC.

The ground-breaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction was held on December 1. Multi-sport conglomerate IMG Academies (IMGA) will open its first ever branch outside the US in DLC.

These will include the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy and the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

"We believe that the recent developments will not have any major impact on our project.

"Dubai will always remain a great destination for tourists and residents alike as it offers fantastic packages to visitors and lucrative opportunities for investors," Seddiqi said.
