Muscat: Omantel is starting to reap the benefits of its plan with Tejari towards streamlining its procurement process, the company said on Thursday.

The partnership between Omantel and Omania E-Commerce (Tejari Oman) was a leap towards digitising and automating the traditional procurement processes which will lead to an efficient and cost effective operation.

The first auction has been floated within the Tejari community, and the response from the suppliers is overwhelming.

This first step is the beginning of a long journey that Omantel has envisioned towards leading the Omani market into the future of digital transactions.

"Major Omani companies have realised the power of Tejari Transact [the vehicle of e-procurement within the Tejari profile] and how its use will enhance their business processes," says a press release from the company.

Buyers as well as suppliers praise the system and its functionalities since they have encountered first hand experience in time and cost savings.

"The days of long waiting for a purchase order in the buyers' office are over" one supplier said. Another supplier said: "What used to take days to be finalised, now takes hours and with more transparency in the market place".

From the buyers' side, Omantel realised that most buyers who have been using the system admire the fact that the automation process yields savings on operational costs as well as on the cost of goods.

One of the pioneer buyers in adopting the Tejari model said: "Through using Tejari, single handed I am able to control efficiently my purchasing process with even less time".

Tejari Transact offers a host of benefits to its users including significant reduction in transaction and administration costs, increase in new customer business, reduction in procurement and intermediation costs with existing partners as well as increase in base of online suppliers, save time, and better control and greater transparency in the purchasing process.
