Universal begins work on Dubailand theme park

Dubai: Mohammad Al Habbai, chief executive of Dubailand, a member of Tatweer, and Laurent JeanJean, vice-president of Universal Studios Dubailand, a member of Tatweer, broke ground yesterday for the seven million square feet theme park.

The Dh4.6 billion entertainment park will comprise five areas with different themes.

"We are proud to announce the ground breaking of Universal Studios Dubailand, the premiere theme park in the Middle East," said Jean.

When completed in December 2010, it will join the family of theme parks in Hollywood, Florida, Japan and Singapore.
