Korean tech conglomerate Samsung Electronics announced Tuesday that the official rollout of One UI 7 will start on April 7. The update brings a bold new design for greater personalization and control to the user experience.

According to Samsung, the UI 7 introduces a new interface built for AI that helps users interact with their Galaxy devices “more naturally than ever before.” Samsung has said the update will be available starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 and will gradually roll out to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Samsung was one of the early adopters of artificial intelligence in smartphones. The company began integrating AI-driven features with the Galaxy S8 in 2017, introducing Bixby, its AI-powered assistant.

What to expect with One UI 7?

The company stated that One UI 7 introduces a more intuitive home screen, redesigned widgets, and a customizable lock screen. A new Now Bar feature will allow users to check real-time updates, such as fitness progress or music playback, directly from the lock screen without unlocking their device.

Samsung highlighted the AI-driven features in One UI 7, including:

  • AI Select allows users to save videos as GIFs with a simple swipe.

  • Writing Assist, which can summarize and format text.

  • Drawing Assist, which helps create images using text prompts and sketches.

  • Audio Eraser, which can isolate and remove unwanted background noise in videos.

The update will also introduce a natural language search in Settings. Users can type or speak queries like “My eyes are feeling tired”, and the system will suggest relevant options such as adjusting brightness or enabling Eye Comfort Shield.

According to Samsung, One UI 7 will first be available on the Galaxy S24 series, followed by other devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5, and the Galaxy Tab S10 and S9 series in the coming weeks. Availability may vary by market and device.

As of March 17, 2025, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KRX: 005930) reported a stock price of 57,600 Korean Won, reflecting a 5.3 per cent increase from the previous close.

The company's market capitalization stands at approximately 379.69 trillion won, with 5.92 billion shares outstanding and a public float of 4.71 billion shares.
