Mall of the Emirates, the largest shopping mall outside North America, is open for business as shops are opening one by one to greet visitors.

Located off the fourth interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road, the mall will cater to a large neighbourhood in the Al Barsha area who now will not have to commute downtown for their regular shopping, with Carrefour, located in the mall, expected to cater to their needs.

The Mall of the Emirates is now open for business and shoppers have rushed there to see what Dubai's biggest and newest mall has to offer.

Mall of the Emirates, whose size is equivalent to 73 football pitches, will house more than 400 retailers, 65 restaurants, a huge indoor ski slope called Ski Dubai, a 14-screen Cinestar cinema, Magic Planet, which will be the largest indoor family entertainment centre in Dubai, a community theatre and arts centre, and a five-star Kempinski Hotel.

Majid Al Futtaim Investments (MAF) invested Dh3 billion in the project. It is MAF's fourth mall in the UAE and the seventh in the region.

A new hotel will be built at the rear of the mall, to cater to a large number of GCC visitors who are expected to experience ski facilities, the first of their kind in the region. Dubai Municipality has already built the road infrastructure and access to the mall.
