Dubai-based Mammut group has signed up with Techno Park for a 2.16 million square foot plot to build a pre-cast concrete panel factory.
Total investments are estimated at more than Dh500 million. The plant, which aims to be the biggest and most modern in the world, will be able to produce up to four million square metres of pre-cast concrete panels a year.
"The UAE currently has many huge construction projects requiring ready-made concrete," said Abdullah Al Qurashi, chief executive officer of Techno Park.
"We are building the biggest pre-cast factory in the world in Dubai because we share the vision of Dubai's leadership," Mammut group's Managing Partner Behzad Ferdows said.
The factory will be commissioned in the second quarter of 2005.
Techno Park was established by the Government of Dubai.
It is designed to be a world-class industrial complex and a centre for industry and high-tech manufacturing for local and international companies.
The Mammut group, a leading maker of trailers, steel buildings, sandwich panels and concrete pre-cast panels, is also introducing a new Canadian-patented technology in the region. This will make it possible to build a two-storey villa in 48 hours.
