Dubai: Al Tayer Group has opened the first showroom of the French luxury furniture brand Ligne Roset in Dubai, to tap the growing market for top-end home furniture products.

The company has been dealing in Ligne Roset products for about two decades along with other brands under its furniture business division called Aati.

Dubai's construction boom is creating thousands of modern homes and the city is seen by Roset as a lucrative market for luxurious contemporary furniture.

"We are going to offer a big collection of furniture that suits the styles and tastes in the UAE," said Roset chief Michel Roset, who was in Dubai for the showroom's opening.

He said the showroom will offer customers a wider selection of Ligne Roset products.

Roset expects his sales turnover in the country to double within two years.

"This is a strong market and growing every year. But it is also a challenge to satisfy a diversified customer base that comprises so many nationalities," he said in an interview.

Roset said he sees a demand for more "decorative type" of furniture in the UAE market.

The company uses top interior designers to create its products.

The family-owned group has about 800 showrooms around the world, with 180 located in France.

Ligne Roset was founded in 1860, when Antoine Roset opened a wood processing factory in Montagnieu, France.
