Dubai: Dubai-based Centre Point Logistics (CPL), part of the SS Lootah Group, said it has opened its logistics hub in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).

The new logistics complex occupies two million square feet, adding another notch to Dubai's established position as a regional and global leader in the logistics sector.

"The timely completion of our logistics hub in Jafza will enable us to keep pace with the growing demand which signalled the regional economic recovery," said Saleh Saeed Lootah, Chairman of SSL Holdings, CPL's parent company.

"We aim to strengthen Dubai's competitive position in the global logistics sector through innovative infrastructure.

"The new hub offers a unique service to local and international third-party logistics (3PL) providers enabling them to provide their multi-national customers with world-class services in the Middle East region."

A third-party logistics provider (abbreviated 3PL, or sometimes TPL) is a firm that provides a one-stop shop service to its customers of outsourced (or "third party") logistics services for part or all of their supply chain management functions.

Third party logistics providers specialise in integrated operations, warehousing and transportation services that can be scaled and customised to customer's needs based on market conditions and the demands and delivery service requirements for their products and materials.

CPL's "open architecture model" aims to forge partnerships across the logistics industry to save resources, time and money while adding value to partners and clients through enhanced efficiency.

For the first time in the region, 3PL providers will be able to provide their customers with integrated logistics services through a strategic partnership with CPL that offers warehousing, transportation, technical and skilled labour and equipment, and other operations management.
