Gulf Extrusions plans to increase its Jebel Ali manufacturing facility's capacity to over 55,000 tonnes annually by purchasing two aluminium extrusion presses, officials said.

"Gulf Extrusions is already leading the aluminium extrusion sector in the Middle East. We feel the time is right for the company to takes its place among the global market leaders. Our aim is to increase capacity and invest in improved quality products. The acquisition of the new presses will equip us to optimise our export potential, as well as to open new markets for our exceptional products," said Robert Holtkamp, the company's director of sales and marketing.

The company, whose present capacity is 30,000 tons per annum, will target global markets when its increased capacity is installed, officials said.

"In the 27 years of its involvement in Middle East markets, Gulf Extrusions has distinguished itself as a leading producer of top quality aluminium profiles. Our profiles have successfully met and exceeded all international standards governing the import of aluminium products.

"This has resulted in a rapid increase in international demand for Gulf Extrusion's profiles," Holtkamp said.

The company is investing over Dh120 million in the new aluminium extrusion presses, which are being sourced from Germany, officials said.

The first press will be operational by August and the second one in October, officials said.

"Our current manufacturing facility is already operating at full capacity. We are now investing in new presses to meet potential demand," Holtkamp said.

With the installation of the new presses and the resultant increased capacity, Gulf Extrusions will be in a position to target a greater market share in the UAE (where it already enjoys a 50 per cent share of the market) and other regional markets.
