Dubai: US energy giant Chevron Corporation has renamed its UAE subsidiary Caltex Al Khalij to Chevron Al Khalij, effective immediately.

"Chevron is a leading global energy company built on the strengths and proud traditions of all its predecessor companies," Chevron country chairman and vice-president Operations Global Aviation Todd P. Grubin, said.

"Chevron has been active in the UAE for more than 30 years under its Caltex brand umbrella and as a founding shareholder in Eppco a joint venture with Enoc. In fact, Caltex Al Khalij opened Dubai's first petrol station in 1969. Chevron is proud of its long history of success in the emirates and we look forward to many more years of success as Chevron Al Khalij," he added.

Chevron's Caltex brand is well known in the UAE via its aviation fuels and lubricant businesses.

In addition to its new legal name, Chevron's UAE subsidiary will re-sign its offices in line with the company's global image, using a refreshed and redesigned version of the famous red and blue Chevron logo. However, Chevron is keen to point out that the name change does not signal the end of the Caltex brand in the country.

Chevron Corporation is the second-largest integrated energy company in the US and one of the largest corporations in the world.
