Dubai: The Department of Economic Development in Dubai, and three of its agencies, have adopted a new corporate identity in line with their mandated role of spurring economic activity in Dubai, the group said in a statement on Sunday.

The department, along with Dubai SME, Dubai Trade and Exports, and Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI), will now all fall under the new title Dubai Economy, with a unified logo focusing on an image of Dubai creek.

According to the statement, the new identity reflects the role of the department and its agencies, as well as their achievement in driving the emirate forward through economic diversification, sustainability, competitiveness and ease of doing business, among other things.

Going forwards, Dubai Economy will be the government body tasked with setting and pushing forward the economic agenda of the emirate of Dubai.

Improved business environment

It will support the structural transformation of Dubai into a diversified, innovative service-based economy that aims to improve the business environment and accelerate productivity growth.

The multiple agencies that fall under the umbrella title will be responsible for promoting Dubai as a preferred place to start a business, fostering an entrepreneurial culture and developing a competitive SME sector, facilitating trade to and from Dubai, and promoting Foreign Direct Investment in the emirate.
