Dubai's GDP is projected to grow 12.78 per cent to Dh174.6 billion by 2009, up from Dh110.7 billion last year, according to a study conducted by the Dubai Municipality.

"Dubai's GDP is expected to reach Dh174.6 billion in 2009, according to realistic projections that take into account the emirate's actual GDP growth over the period from 1995 to 2004," said Dr Zainal Abideen Wafaee, statistics expert at the Dubai Municipality in his paper presented yesterday on the second day of the Third Documentation and Electronic Archiving Conference.

Wafaee said that Dubai's GDP is expected to reach Dh113.1 billion this year. Non-oil GDP will rise to Dh109.9 billion.

GDP stood at Dh110.7 billion in 2004, which constituted 29.2 per cent of the UAE's national GDP of Dh378.8 billion.
