Dubai: Dubai Trade, the leading facilitator of cross-border trade under Dubai World, has announced its mobile strategy to provide the services of its stakeholders and its own value-added services through smart phones and other mobile devices. The initiative is in line with the announcement made last month by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to move government services towards “Smart Government”.

The mobile initiative will enable Dubai Trade to provide a unified platform where its business stakeholders can host their services and offer them via mobile channels. Customers will enjoy a better user experience and a more interactive way to engage and transact with Dubai Trade.

The strategy and framework is jointly developed by Dubai Trade, Dubai Customs, DP World and Jafza. It will set the usability standards aimed at creating an intuitive easy-to-use interface and a seamless user experience through a wide variety of mobile devices.

Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World highlighted the importance of the mobile strategy which will provide additional value to the business community who use Dubai as a logistics hub for their supply chain and trading activities.

“Launching the mobile strategy and framework is the first step for us towards translating the ‘Smart Government’ initiative announced by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to provide innovative solutions through mobile applications to meet the needs and expectations of our leadership in accordance with the UAE Vision 2021,” Bin Sulayem said.

Dubai Trade Portal (www.dubaitrade.ae) already offers more than 750 e-Services. The one-stop-shop portal facilitates cargo movement in and out of the country round the clock and enjoys over 91 per cent adoption of its core services.

By providing its services via mobile devices, Dubai Trade and its business stakeholders will take advantage of the ubiquity of mobile devices to transform the way users conduct their business transactions whilst creating a better user experience that is available anytime, anywhere and on the move. Users will have more flexibility in transacting with Dubai Trade in an enhanced environment that will strengthen customer engagement and promote loyalty to Dubai as a trade and logistics hub.

Jamal Bin Thaniah, Chairman of Dubai Trade said, “Dubai Trade is one of the pioneering entities in adopting e-Government practices. As the UAE enjoys the highest penetration rate of mobile internet usage in the region, providing our services through the mobile phone and other smart devices will offer another convenient channel of access for our customers.”
