Dubai: Under the Patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai will be the venue for the World Energy Forum 2012 (WEF), which will be organised for the first time outside the headquarters of the United Nations in New York under the theme "A Forum for World Leaders". The event will take place from October 22 to 24 at the Dubai International Convention Centre.
Dubai was selected to host this event after fierce competition from other international venues and cities, a statement by the Dubai Government Media Office quoted the Supreme Council of Energy.
An official ceremony was held by the Supreme Council of Energy for Dubai (SCE) for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the SCE, and Professor Harold Hyun-Suk Oh, Chairman and Founder of the World Energy Forum, to host the event in Dubai.
