Dubai Ports Authority (DPA) and DPI Terminals (DPI) have been merged to form DP World in a move aimed at creating one of the largest port operators in the world.

The Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza) and its global arm, Jafza International, have been fused into a single entity the Jafza and Business Parks.

The Dubai Ports and Jafza has been formed as a new regulator to oversee the regulation and administration of Dubai's port and free zone operations.

A Board of Ports and Free Zones has also been formed to oversee the development of the ports and free zone businesses.
