Dubai: Dubai Exports, an agency of the Department of Economic Development, and the Moroccan Centre for Export Promotion (Maroc Export) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently to reinforce the existing trade relations between the two countries.

Abdul Latif Mazouz, Minister of Foreign Trade of Morocco said: "Investment and trade with Morocco is growing at 22 per cent annually since we signed the free trade agreement. In 2010 the trade value reached $342 million (Dh1.256 billion)."

Sa'ad Al Deen Bin Abdullah, Managing Director of Maroc Export, said: "The strategic partnership between Dubai Exports and Maroc Exports will promote bilateral trade as well as develop future cooperation towards utilising Dubai and Morocco as gateways to Europe, Africa and the Middle East and will help to increase their exports."

Mohammad Ali Al Kamali, Director of Export Markets Development at Dubai Exports, said: "Dubai's direct exports to Morocco have grown 19 per cent from 2009 to 2010 and are expected to increase to more than 30 per cent towards the end of this year."

The MoU is part of a series of activities organised by Maroc Export as part of a business exploration trip to Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE.
