Agrokoncernas Group, one of the largest and most advanced agriculture companies in the Baltic States, is developing an ambitious project – Agrokoncernas Future Farm (AgroFFARM). Its main goal is to test and apply the latest technologies in smart farms, helping farmers accelerate the development of precision farming practices and product use.

For example, the fields of the company’s smart farms are scanned by drones, and the data is analyzed and transferred to computers of agricultural machinery. With the help of this technology, weeds are captured, making weed control much more efficient. The tractors no longer cover the entire field with weed killers but only the areas where they are growing, as the tractor's sprayers respond to computer data and turn on and off only when needed.

According to Ramūnas Karbauskis, the owner of Agrokoncernas Group, such strategies help find optimal solutions, significantly increase yields, and reduce costs.

"We are one of the few agricultural sector companies in the Baltic States that actively invests in science. Agrokoncernas Innovation and Research Center AgroITC that we have established is a recognized and certified research institution that conducts various field research and provides science-based recommendations to farmers. We want to go even further in this area, so we are constantly expanding the scope and methods of research."

Various data collected and systematized on AgroFFARM farms will be constantly analyzed by experienced specialists. They will also apply the latest agricultural innovations, test agricultural machinery, and conduct various tests.

The establishment of smart farms is one of the tools to help achieve the company's strategic goals. Agrokoncernas GDP, a company founded by the Agrokoncernas Group, is investing in the most modern grain processing plant in the Baltic States. This means that the demand for grain for processing will increase significantly in the long run.

Alina Adomaitytė, Deputy General Director of Agrokoncernas Group, says that the company is able to supply the plant with all the grain it needs. At present, most of the grain is exported but once the factory is built, it will be used for production purposes.

“Our main goal is to maximize the added value of the grain. AgroFFARM will help us find out which grain varieties are most suitable for the processing plant. Once we have found the best solutions for growing these varieties, we will offer them to farmers. In this way, we will be able to ensure the required amount of best-quality grain, and the added value of the production will allow us to offer farmers better grain purchase prices.”

Agrokoncernas Group has its own modern seed preparation department that can store the whole required amount of grain. It can take in more than 60 tons of grain in one hour. A centralized seed preparation unit ensures grain quality and proper storage conditions. This is especially important in ensuring the right amount of grain for the plant.

Talking about the prospects of grain processing in Lithuania, Alina Adomaitytė points out several important factors. One of the most important aspects is the particularly favorable climate for growing grain. Lithuania also has one of the lowest prices for energy resources, such as water and electricity.

Looking into the future, Lithuania is striving for energy independence, so the country will be actively developing renewable energy sources over the next few years. Agrokoncernas Group is also investing in wind farms that will generate a total of about 1000 MW of energy. The amount of energy generated will significantly contribute to the company's own production needs.

Agrokoncernas Group is developing all the investment projects on its own land. The company’s activities cover the entire ecosystem, giving it a great advantage in the agricultural sector. As a trading and technology company, it is constantly striving for efficiency in all areas, as well as looking for partners and investors to implement promising future projects.
