Sharjah: Skyline University College (SUC) in Sharjah, UAE, recently hosted the UN World Water Day celebrations, marking another successful year of its dedicated efforts towards water conservation and awareness in the region. Over the past 14 years, SUC has been actively involved in empowering communities, particularly in Sharjah, aligning with this year's UN theme of "Water for Peace."

The initiative aimed to promote a sustainable and informed society by advocating reduced water consumption, increased community engagement, and enhanced water management practices. Prof. Mohammad In’airat, the Vice Chancellor, reiterated the college's commitment to societal welfare, highlighting education and awareness as fundamental to sustainable development.

The event, held at Al Majaz Water Front in Sharjah, provided a scenic setting against the vibrant blue hues of the Sharjah corniche, resonating with the theme of Leveraging Water for Peace. It featured 18 innovative projects and attracted over 200 participants, including students from 38 schools across Sharjah and Dubai, along with their families and teachers.

Participants received goodie bags with snacks and Skyline water bottles, and winners and runners-up were awarded mementos and certificates, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere. The event saw valuable collaborations with Beeah, Shurooq, Al Majaz Waterfront, and SEWA, with engaging activities like puzzles for children and a lively water bubble mascot from SEWA.

Dr Abdul Salam, the Coordinator of the World Water Day event, expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions in promoting collaboration, education, and action towards safeguarding the planet's vital water resources. SUC extends its appreciation to all stakeholders involved and reaffirms its commitment to advancing water sustainability in the region.
