Iraqi start-up Digital Zone hits 1 million monthly users post-acquisition

Iraqi startup Digital Zone celebrates one million monthly users after Qi Group acquisition. Founded in 2020, the company now offers expanded services including ticketing, travel booking, and e-SIM solutions, showcasing Iraq's growing digital ecosystem while planning expansion into Saudi Arabia and other GCC markets.

Digital Zone has reached 1 million monthly users after being acquired by Qi Group, Iraq's largest financial technologies company. This achievement represents a 50-fold revenue increase within just one year of the acquisition.

Founded in 2020 by Saif Al-Mufti and a team of young Iraqi entrepreneurs, Digital Zone was created to simplify access to digital services, including mobile top-ups, internet subscriptions, gaming credits, and online gift cards. The company's growth accelerated significantly following its integration with Qi Group in early 2025.

"Joining forces with Qi has enabled us to scale our vision of simplifying digital life in Iraq," said Al-Mufti, founder and CEO of Digital Zone. "We're now able to serve millions of users with seamless access to a wide range of digital services."

The company has expanded beyond its initial offerings to launch Ticket Zone, Iraq's first dedicated digital ticketing platform; Rahal, a comprehensive travel booking service; and Rahal e-SIM for international roaming.

Luay Al-Obaidy, Qi's chief product officer (CPO,) highlighted the strategic value of the acquisition: "Digital Zone is now one of our key growth engines, introducing users to the Qi ecosystem through its value-added services."

Ibrahim Al-Zubaidi, co-founder of Qi, added, "This partnership embodies the vision, drive, and resilience of all Iraqi innovators, and our commitment to helping them scale their impact."

With its current momentum, Digital Zone is exploring regional expansion into GCC markets, particularly Saudi Arabia, aligning with its goal of becoming a regional player while proving Iraq's potential as a growing digital market.

The company's journey from startup to million-user platform demonstrates the transformative power of strategic partnerships in Iraq's digital economy.
