Digitel, a South Sudan-based telecommunication company, has announced the successful launch of Digitel, Mobile Network Operator (MNO) in the world's youngest nation on July 12, 2021, at Digitel Data Center Complex, Juba.
Digitel, the third MNO in the country, is expected to fast-track connectivity to the remote areas in South Sudan by providing quality mobile communication services and developing the ICT local infrastructure at competitive prices. A first of its kind, the foundation for the launch of the MNO was designed by an expert team of Digitel employees across the globe backed by a solid partnership with the Creative Python Project Management team.
The historic milestone was unveiled by Hon. President of South Sudan, His Excellency General Salva Kiir Mayardit. The President expressed his pride in launching the first South Sudanese indigenous Mobile Network Operator, Truly Junubia Spirit. The President believes Digitel is committed to bringing mobile connectivity to remote areas across the country. As a result, he is considering tax exemptions for the company to support the rural communities.
"For us to launch our MNO services and products at the tenth year of our independence anniversary shows that South Sudanese can contribute towards a bright future for ourselves, for our children, and the next generation," said Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth, Minister of Information, Communications, and Technology who was in attendance as well.
Other dignitaries also included the Security Advisor to the President, Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, CEOs of various corporate institutions, Creative Python representatives.

Creative Python was instrumental in providing the PMO launch function to Digitel at each phase of the GSM network planning and rollout. The Creative Python Launch PMO worked alongside the Digitel senior management team and its various business functions to ensure adequate and coordinated program management of the various projects and business activities managed holistically for a successful Commercial Launch.
Digitel will continue working with its partners to introduce innovative Products and Services that meet the needs of every South Sudanese. Digitel plans to introduce mobile financial services, including mobile money, money transfers, and internet banking.
