Dubai: Al-Futtaim IKEA is taking part in this year’s Dubai Design Week by transforming a bus stop at Dubai Design District into a sustainable living space.

Open to the public from November 8 to 30, the IKEA Sustainable Container is fully remodeled to be a living space as well as bus stop for those in D3.

The container is divided into three parts: Decked with fresh flowers on the wall and ceiling, the Green Living Solution invites people to relax and rewind; the Sustainable Bus Stop Solution, which has an installed air purifier, helps people lay back and relax while waiting for the bus; and the Sustainable Living Solution, which is a 15 sq.m. space.

The sustainable container also displays many practical ways to help save the planet, including growing indoor herbs and vegetables by the window to avoid lower emissions caused by transportation, and using the first cold water from showers to water the plants and herbs.
