CNBC launches weekly focus on Middle East

CNBC Europe is the latest international electronic media player to offer a weekly programme focused on the Middle East, an company representative said.

"We are launching a weekly business edition focusing on developments in the region. We are going to cover all the major business and economic events taking place in Dubai and other cities," said Dan McClean, CNBC Europe's commercial director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

CNBC Europe has appointed a journalist to coordinate future coverage.

"In the recent past, we have witnessed a large capital flow into the GCC region, especially into the UAE from all over the world. Besides, utilisation of domestic capital has also been [high]," McClean said.

He spoke on the sidelines of the shooting of the second episode of Questions For the Future, a round-table discussion, with guests including senior business leaders, representatives from NGOs and world economic commentators.

"With so much happening in the region, we feel there is a story to tell almost everyday," he said.
