UAE-owned botim is getting as many payment transfers as video calls

Dubai: The botim app - now used for video calls as well as sending remittances - is getting a completely new look. The owner of one of UAE most downloaded apps, Astra Tech, is also giving it an upgraded user interface.

botim's - the switch to lower case is part of the new look - global user base numbers over 150 million. The digital platform has been upgrading its features as a financial app, whether as a cross-border remittance app or for domestic payment transfers.

It has been seeing a 50% spike in active wallet users, which Astra Tech says is a 'strong indicator of its growing relevance in the digital finance space'.

Financial tools are now directly accessible within botim chat with a single click, while 'AI-powered chatbot assistance' adds to the user experience.

"The redesigned interface is faster, more intuitive and purposefully structured to simplify how users interact with core functions, including payments, transfers, lending and calling," said a statement.

According to Dr. Tariq Bin Hendi, Board Member at Astra Tech and CEO of botim, "We’ve streamlined the experience to meet the needs of a growing user base that expects more not just from communication, but from the way they interact and manage their financial services as well”
