Emirates reroutes several flights heading to Dubai, no diversions as airspaces close

Dubai-based Emirates airline said it rerouted several flights enroute to Dubai on June 23 because of the ongoing regional situation.

However, there were no diversions.

GCC countries such as Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait had suspended their airspaces following Iran’s strikes at a US base in Qatar on Monday.

“After a thorough and careful risk assessment, Emirates will continue to operate flights as scheduled, using flight paths well distanced from conflict areas,” the airline said.

The airline cautioned that some flights may incur delays due to longer re-routings or airspace congestion.

“Emirates' teams are working hard to keep to schedule and minimise any disruption or inconvenience to our customers,” it said.

The airline also advised passengers to check the flight status before heading to the airport.

Customers impacted by flight cancellations were advised to contact their travel agency for rebooking.
