Airline grows A350 order to 16 as it ramps up network expansion, modernises widebody fleet
Dubai: EGYPTAIR confirmed a firm order for six additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, bringing its total order for the fuel-efficient widebody jet to 16, as the carrier moves to expand its long-haul network and modernise its fleet.
The announcement was made at the Paris Air Show on June 18, as part of the airline’s broader fleet expansion strategy. The newly ordered A350s are expected to support rising demand for international travel and contribute to Egypt’s goals for more sustainable air transport, the airline said.
“This collaboration with Airbus builds on a long-standing relationship. Today’s announcement reflects our commitment to integrating next-generation aircraft into our fleet,” said EGYPTAIR Chairman and CEO Captain Ahmed Adel.“It will enable us to meet rising demand for long-haul travel, support our network expansion plans over the next five years, and contribute to Egypt’s broader efforts to promote more sustainable air transport.”
The Airbus A350-900 is currently the longest-range commercial aircraft in production, capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km) non-stop. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, the aircraft uses 25% less fuel than previous-generation widebodies and emits significantly lower carbon emissions.
“This is the second time EGYPTAIR has placed an order for the A350, and the decision is testament to the value the aircraft provides,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales, Commercial Aircraft at Airbus.“The A350 is set to be a pillar in EGYPTAIR’s journey, playing a pivotal role in its continued success, growth, and decarbonisation ambitions.”
The A350s will feature Airbus’ Airspace cabin design, which includes wider seats, high ceilings, and ambient lighting aimed at enhancing passenger comfort on long-haul routes.
All Airbus A350 aircraft are already certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and Airbus aims to reach 100% SAF capability by 2030 as part of its long-term sustainability goals.
As of May 2025, the Airbus A350 has received over 1,390 orders from 60 airline customers around the world.
