Orlando: Global air services provider dnata has launched its groundbreaking “Station of Tomorrow” at the Orlando International Airport in the United States. The $3 million investment introduces a fully electric ground support equipment (GSE) fleet, advanced digital solutions, and AI-powered tools. This initiative is part of dnata’s long-term strategy to modernise ground handling across its 22 U.S. locations.

dnata’s new station will transform airport operations through an electric GSE Fleet, featuring 14 fully electric cargo loaders, pushbacks, and belt loaders to reduce emissions, aligning with dnata’s goal to cut carbon emissions by 50 per cent by 2030. The station is also home to smart passenger services, including self-check-in kiosks, baggage drop points, and conveyor belt automation.

The centre will also be home to a collision avoidance system featuring innovative sensors to prevent accidents in ground towing operations. David Barker, Regional CEO for Americas, dnata, said, “This initiative strengthens dnata’s position in the U.S. market while driving sustainability and operational excellence. We look forward to expanding this model nationwide.”

The project will create 50 new jobs in Orlando, with further expansion planned. Key industry partners contributed to the launch, including Lufthansa Group, Oshkosh AeroTech, Evitado Technologies, and AVIAR. Jörg Mnich, VP of Commercial Airport Agreements, Lufthansa Group, said, “We are thrilled to partner with dnata on this pioneering initiative and look forward to seeing these innovations deployed across other airports.
