Passengers stranded as SpiceJet flight faces repeated delays at Delhi airport
A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Ahmedabad was delayed multiple times on Thursday, leaving passengers stranded for hours as departure times slipped from early afternoon to late at night.
According to an NDTV report, frustrated travellers protested at the boarding gate, chanting slogans and sitting on the floor amid a lack of clear updates. Many criticised airline staff for being unhelpful, noting that refreshments were only provided after persistent complaints.
SpiceJet offered an alternative afternoon flight, but it failed to assist those with urgent plans. The lack of timely communication and ongoing delays left many feeling disappointed.
The airline attributed the delays to operational challenges and emphasised safety. They said regular updates were provided, though passengers felt the constant postponements caused increased stress and disrupted schedules.
Earlier in July, passengers faced chaos at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport when a SpiceJet flight to Dubai was delayed by over 10 hours.
Travellers reported a lack of basic amenities such as food and water, along with poor coordination from ground staff. The prolonged wait led to frustration and a protest inside the terminal, with viral videos showing crowds demanding accountability from SpiceJet officials.
