Dubai: Investigations into the tragic Boeing 787 plane crash near Ahmedabad will take time, Air India Managing Director and CEO Campbell Wilson stated in a video message on Thursday.

In the video message released hours after the accident, Campbell said, "This a difficult day for all of us," Wilson vowed to share "accurate and timely" information as it becomes available.

Wilson said the airline's immediate efforts focus entirely on supporting the passengers, crew members, and their families. He confirmed that 242 people, including 12 crew members, were on board the ill-fated flight.

"I know that there are many questions, and at this stage, I will not be able to answer all of them, but I do want to share the information we have at this time," Wilson said in his message.

He noted that local authorities have transported injured passengers to nearby hospitals. Air India management is actively collaborating with all emergency response teams. A special team of caregivers from Air India is also heading to Ahmedabad to provide additional support to those affected.

Acknowledging the public's desire for more information, Wilson stressed the importance of accuracy. "Anything we report must be accurate and not speculation. We owe that to everyone involved." He assured that teams are working around the clock to support those impacted and assist investigators.

Air India has also set up a special helpline for friends and family seeking information about their loved ones.
