Dubai: Dubai’s Al Khaleej Sugar Refinery expects sugar production to fall by around 20 per cent in 2018 due to unattractive white sugar premiums, managing director Jamal Al Ghurair said on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an industry conference in Dubai, Al Ghurair said production would fall from the 1.8 million tonnes produced in 2017.

He also said that the company’s exit from the Qatari market had little impact on exports in 2017 as it made up less than 1 per cent of exports from the Dubai refinery.
