Dubai: Al Futtaim Motors, has produced a modified Hiace vehicle especially for wheelchair bound passengers, for the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC).

The design is the first of its kind for the company, which is the exclusive distributor for Toyota in the UAE, and is particularly versatile, allowing lift equipment to fold away easily and with the capacity to transport five passengers and their luggage at a time.

Simon Frith, Managing Director, Al Futtaim Motors, said: “When DTC announced they were looking into developing a specialised fleet of taxi vehicles, we were delighted to have the opportunity to further support DTC in serving the community. We knew we had the technical capabilities to work on a suitable modification at our workshop in Dubai and have since handed over the transformed Hiace as a complementary prototype for testing.”
