Abu Dhabi Terminals inks agreement for Asia distribution

New service links Abu Dhabi to major Asian import and export destinations

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT), the manager and operator of Abu Dhabi’s three main commercial ports, announced that they have reached an agreement with Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) to call Khalifa Port Container Terminal with their CMX service linking Abu Dhabi with major Asian import and export destinations as well as providing fast transit times to Singapore for intra-Asia distribution.

This week, a senior delegation from the Hong Kong-based shipping line, OOCL, visited Khalifa Port Container Terminal to get a first person view of the state-of-the-art facilities and services offered to Abu Dhabi and UAE trades by Abu Dhabi Terminals.

During the visit, an agreement was signed between OOCL and Abu Dhabi Terminals. Martijn van de Linde, CEO, Abu Dhabi Terminals, said, “We are proud to welcome OOCL to Khalifa Port. Their CMX service will bring additional diversity to the service offerings of our facility which directly benefits the trade as a whole.”

“The first OOCL vessel call on the CMX service is expected on the June 11 and will further expand the Khalifa Port network with direct connection to Ningbo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Nansha, Xiamen and Ningbo,” van de Linde added.
