Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Ports has announced the launch of the second phase of Kizad Logistics Park (KLP), a non-free zone warehousing facility.

As part of the development plan, 64 high-quality modular warehouse units will be constructed and handed over to tenants by the third quarter of this year (2016), Abu Dhabi Ports said in a statement on Sunday.

With the launch of the second phase, the total number of warehouses at the park will go up to 105.

“Kizad’s development follows a demand-driven approach; responding to the needs of the market and designing flexible solutions accordingly,” stated Mana Mohammad Saeed Al Mulla, Chief Operating Officer, Kizad. “The 41 warehouses in Phase 1 were 83 per cent leased before construction being completed and 100 per cent leased a few months after that. Since then the need for more high-quality warehousing units has encouraged us to start building Phase 2 of KLP.”

According to Abu Dhabi Ports, each unit has an area of 1,133 square metres with a mezzanine office (shell and core) and larger units can be created by removing internal walls — up to 9,064 square metres.

The next phase of development within Kizad will be the free zone pre-built warehouses, which is currently under design.

Abu Dhabi Ports manages 10 commercial, logistics, community and leisure ports, and Khalifa Industrial Zone that is serving a range of logistics and manufacturing investors.
