DUBAI: How about having your favourite dishes delivered at your picnic spot? Talabat, a UAE based online food delivery company, has launched a service to deliver your order directly to your picnic spot.
The service that was introduced last week is available to Umm Suqeim Beach and Zabeel Park visitors currently.
These locations have the ‘Smart Palm’ installations which enable the company to deliver food there (see box below).
Smart Palms
The Smart Palms are solar panel powered palm-tree inspired Wi-Fi stations which provide free wireless internet access. They also give information on the weather, local attractions and have facilities for charging mobile devices. The Smart Palm has a unique number, like the Makani number. One only has to enter this number instead of the house, street and flat number when placing an order.
The service is available on all days and comes with a delivery charge of Dh6 per restaurant.
How it works:
Open the Talabat App
Select between the two delivery areas: Umm Suqeim 2 or Zabeel Park
Place your order from any of the restaurants available on the app
Pin your location on the map (this will be the place where your food will be delivered) and click ‘Confirm’
Select ‘House’ as the address type
On both the ‘Street’ and ‘House’ sections of the form, write ‘Smart Palm’ and the number of the Palm closest to you (you can find the number written on the Smart Palm itself)
Enter your mobile number so the driver can contact you when he arrives
Pay as normal and await your delicious delivery
