A small village in Norfolk, England, came alive with excitement as it hosted the 2025 World Snail Racing Championships. This quirky annual event, which dates back to the 1960s, drew dozens of snail enthusiasts from around the globe. The races began with the traditional call of “Ready. Steady. Slow,” sending the slow-paced competitors inching toward the finish line.

Among the stars of this year’s competition was a rented snail named Bilbo Sluggins, who drew laughs and cheers from the crowd. The event continues to charm audiences with its unique blend of humour, tradition, and good-natured competition.
