Wendy Chadwick was a single mother to five children who died in February this year
Dubai: Getting to travel the world is a dream most of us have. It was also a dream for Wendy Chadwick, a mother of five from Oldham, UK. Unfortunately, she couldn’t fulfill that dream. And so her daughter decided to help that dream become a reality.
Chadwick, 51, who died of a heart condition in February this year was initially supposed to have her ashes scattered on a beach. But Cara Melia, the 24-year-old daughter of Chadwick decided to put her ashes in a bottle, so she could see the world.
“Life happened and my mum never got a chance to travel,” Melia told BBC in an interview.
So Melia put her mother’s ashes in a bottle with a note that read, “This is my mum. Throw her back in. She’s travelling the world. Thanks, Cara, Oldham, UK.”
But 12 hours after the bottle was put in the sea, a beachgoer, Kelly Sheridan came across the bottle.
Sheridan, who was visiting a beach in Skegness, a town in England, came across the bottle and note, which she shared on Facebook, making it go viral immediately.
Sheridan shared the image with the caption, “Can everyone please share this far and wide in hope it finds Cara from Oldham! We found this lovely lady earlier today at Butlins, Skegness beach.”
“She’s been thrown back in the sea as requested. Happy travel’s Cara’s mum,” she added.
“Nobody was meant to find her for a bit, she was meant to be in a completely different country. I’d love her to end up on a beach in Barbados or Spain, which would definitely take a while,’ Melia said.
